The aim of the review article is to analyze the current information regarding the role of pharmaceutical products which might have an impact on the rate of tooth movement that can be accomplished orthodontically. The biochemical pathway for orthodontic movement of a tooth or teeth is found to be accelerated by the tooth movement arising at the level of cells and molecules.

Many medications consumed by patients may have an adverse effect either by increasing or decreasing the movement of teeth orthodontically, so the clinician should be aware of such drugs along with the favourable and unfavourable effects on humans. This article extensively describes about the numerous possible medications that may cause changes in the maximum orthodontical movement of tooth.
