“This textbook gives a glance at the need of integrating behavioral sciences in the field of dentistry. It describes the various categories of phobia and anxiety children and adults have before and during dental visits. It provides a description of the behavioral theories, pernicious oral habits, their negative impact on oral health as well as their management. It emphasizes on the dentist-patient relationship, includes techniques of behavior management in a dental setting as well as highlights how dental fear and anxiety negatively affect an individual’s oral health-related quality of life. A section on the situation of dental professionals during the COVID-19 pandemic has also been added to highlight the psychological impact of the pandemic and ways to fight it efficiently."
